Edirol R-09HR Preview
Goodbye, R-09
We stopped stocking the Edirol R-09 after learning that Roland is replacing it with the Edirol R-09HR, pictured left.
It looks like the R-09, only a little taller.
"HR" stands for high resolution and the fact that the R-09HR can record wav files up to 24 bit/96 kHz.
The Edirol R-09HR is currently available in the EU, Japan and the UK. Its expected USA release is Summer 2008.
As of this writing, no word on USA pricing.
New Features/Improvements
New features available in the Edirol R-09HR include:
- a speaker monitor
- an "Isolated Adaptive Recording Circuit" for better sound
- easier speed adjustment for recording and playback
- wav recording resolutions up to 24-bit/96kHz; and
- 32GB SDHC media card capacity
The battery access door has been re-designed too. Now it looks like you run the risk of just losing the door rather than breaking it.
New AccessoriesThe accessories included with the R-09HR seem useful and fairly generous:
- a wireless remote (!)
- a CD-Rom with Cakewalk Pyro Audio LE software
- a 512 mb secure digital media card
- a stand
- a USB cable
- a Practical Guide
- an AC adapter and
- an Owner's Manual
We look forward to reviewing the R-09HR in person and telling you about it this summer. In the mean time, check out Roland's Edirol R-09HR promo video and sound samples for more information.
